In english class we have been studying archetype and film. Archetype means a very typical example of a certain person or thing. The archetypes I have chosen are (Young one from the provinces, The Initiate, and the Mentor.) My first archetype is “Young one from the provinces.” The young one from the provinces hero is taken away as a young man and raised by strangers when he returns home he can view problems objectively and can solve them easier. Brutus was getting jealous of Julius Caesar. My second archetype is “The Initiate.” The Initiate is a young heroes or heroines who go through training, usually innocent and may wear white. The council gets together and decides they need to kill Julius Caesar because they were getting jealous of him of all the attention. My third archetype is “Mentor.” The mentor is the teacher or counselor to the Initiate, often are father or mother figures to the hero or heroine. Julius Caesar starts teaching the people of Greece, so Brutus and the council gets jealous and decides to kill him. 

This week in Mr. Somers english class we didn’t read a story that required a lot of research so my teacher decided to give us something to look up. The thing that my teacher recommended me to look up was “The Salem Witch Trials.” I wasn’t so excited about researching about it, because it didn’t make to much since to me at first, but then as I started reading more I started to understand it more. The first question was about describing The Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and 1693 in which I put, “A series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witch craft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693.” The second question is Ho was witch craft viewed in the 17th century in New England? so I put “it was a scary reality because everyone believed that there was really witches cursed by the devil so they started executing everyone that the village people thought were a part of witch craft.” The third question is “what caused The Salem Witch Trials?” Doing my research I found out that a group of young girls in the Salem village, Massachusetts, claimed to be possessed by the devil and accused several local women of witch craft. 

In Mr. Somers class we have been reading a book called “The Teacher Who Changed My Life.”  I decided to write about LeBron James because this has made me think of all the people who have changed the lives of other people. LeBron has done so many things that involve helping children. Some of his charities are, the After- School All Stars, The Muhammad Ali: A Force For Change, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and the Children’s Defense fund. All of these charities have a purpose to , like the After- School All Stars  purpose is to keep all the kids in school and encourage them to graduate. The Muhammad Ali: A Force for Change Foundation is a tribute to LeBron, because Muhammad Ali was an inspirational sports figure for LeBron. The Boys and Girls Clubs gives children mentoring and activities to do after school. The Children’s defense foundation makes sure all children are treated fairly. These foundations have also raised a lot of money. The After School All Stars has raised over $40 million dollars. LeBron has donated $2.5 million dollars to the Muhammad Ali: A force for Change Museum, and to The Boys and Girls Clubs of America  Foundation. The Children’s Defense Fund has raised $21,338,231 dollars. Last week we read and watched a story called “How to Build a Fire.” The story is about how a man goes off into Yukon Territory to search for gold. The adventure gets to cold for him to travel any farther so he has to build a fire. The man’s hands eventually get so cold he can’t even move them anymore, so he gets an idea to kill the dog he has and put his hands in his body to warm them.

The man’s considering using his dog’s carcass to warm his hands caused me to look up some possible uses of dead animal carcasses in extreme cold weather.

A number of people are familiar with Bear Grylls. He’s known for his show, Man vs Wild, on Animal Planet. He knows how to use everything about a dead animal carcass, including how to use its body parts for some good uses to survive.
